The Knight Lyte Adventure

Knight Lyte Outdoors was founded in 2023 in small town Montana; Clancy to be exact. We have spent years tooling around with crude ideas and prototypes that are specifically designed to make fishing after dark a unique and rewarding experience.

Night time fishing, especially on hard water, is not for the timid and it brings its own set of challenges that the daytime folks don’t have to deal with. For years, we have experienced the frustration of fishing with large groups, or even solo, once the sun sets. The whole premise of Knight Lyte Outdoors started due to the challenges stemming from fishing after dark; figuring out where you put your equipment and, most importantly, figuring out if you have a bite. Countless fish have been missed due to these simple problems.

Fast forward to 2024, Knight Lyte Outdoors has engineered, designed, assembled and tested the solution to these problems, right here in Montana. We have developed cutting-edge equipment that seamlessly incorporates customizable lighting and sound, leveling the playing field after dark.

We are excited to announce that Knight Lyte Outdoors will be launching its flagship product line in late summer/fall of 2024, showcasing the culmination of our dedication and innovation.

Meet the Crew

Cody Johnson

Hi, I’m Cody, founder of Knight Lyte Outdoors. Born and raised in Montana, the great outdoors was a significant part of growing up, which certainly has not been lost on me as an adult. Fishing has always been my number one passion. It doesn’t matter if it is from the shore, bobbing around in a boat, scooting down the river on a kayak, or strolling about on hard water; if there are fish to be caught, I will be there trying to catch them. I have always been partial to ice fishing, especially at night, which is where the whole idea of Knight Lyte Outdoors started. What began as some crazy contraption made with a 9V battery, hundreds of feet of speaker wire, and a Radioshack buzzer slapped together on a tip-up has evolved year over year to what it is today. On top of fishing, I have never been one to just use something for its intended purpose and I’m constantly modify things to do what I want, since most of the time what I want doesn’t exist, which led me down the path of electronics, PLCs and 3D modeling. Naturally, my constant need to tinker and create things that don’t exist led me to create something that combines the fishing and the technology. Ergo, Knight Lyte Outdoors was born.
